Bio

Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish singer-songwriter born on 10/07/1996 in Glasgow, Scotland, and the youngest of four children. He is also related to Peter Capaldi, an actor known for his role as the twelfth doctor on Doctor Who.

Lewis found his love for music and performing when he was four years old at camp. When he got older, he would often perform whenever he could at local pubs and various other venues around town. He built his music career by recording himself playing his original songs, and uploading the recordings to YouTube.

His song “Bruises,” which he released in March 2017, gained him widespread recognition. Shortly after “Bruises” was released and became a hit, Lewis was signed to Virgin EMI Records and Capitol Records. Lewis continued to rise in recognition and won the awards for ‘Best Acoustic Act’ and ‘Best Breakthrough’ at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2017.

By the summer of 2018, Lewis was playing popular music festivals such as Lollapalooza, The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Firefly and others. Also, in 2018, he won the Breakthrough award at the Great Scot Awards and received the Rising Star award at the Forth Awards.

In 2019, Lewis released his debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent. The album featured multiple songs that rose to the top 10 UK singles including ‘Someone You Loved’ and ‘Before You Go.’ The single, ‘Someone You Loved’ held the #1 spot for eight weeks in the UK and crossed over to the U.S. for one week at #1. This accomplishment made Lewis the first Scottish solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 since 1981.

That same year, Lewis won the MTV ‘Brand New for 2019’ award and was nominated for the Brit Critics’ Choice Award. In 2020, Lewis was nominated for a Grammy for the song “Someone You Loved’ and took home the awards for Song of the Year and Best New Artist at the Brit Awards. Lewis released his second album in 2023, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.
